AMS

SafeGuard™ is an automated lead analyzer for monitoring exposure to lead contamination from lead pipes, solder and brass fittings. It is designed to be used independently or in conjunction with MetalGuard™ Lead Alert! ™ when this warns of an increase in contamination risk.

The benefits of using this novel analyzer include the rapid analysis of the safety of drinking water in homes, schools, day-cares exposed to the risk of lead contamination, delivery of results in minutes to identify contamination sites far faster than laboratory-based analysis, accurate measurement of total lead, a feature not available with hand-held analyzers and rapid delivery of results ensures quarantined sites can be released more quickly after lead remediation.

Recent drinking water lead contamination crises in Flint, Mich., and Newark, N.J. are raising concerns about the ability of traditional lead monitoring programs to measure the presence of all forms of lead; capture unpredictable changes in water quality that result in lead corrosion; and report the contamination risk before the water is delivered to the customer. AMS is dedicated to the development and commercialization of the company’s solutions for reducing the risk of lead contamination by providing water systems and communities real-time lead monitoring solutions to protect public health.

SafeGuard H2O is an Intelligent Water Treatment System incorporating real-time contaminant analysis with a proven in-situ trace metal remediation technology. It integrates AMS’s online lead analyzer for accurate, continuous and dynamic assessment of the presence of total lead in buildings or zones exposed to events that are the cause of acute lead contamination.

California American Water turned to AMS’s MetalGuard™ fully-automated, online multi-stream Cr(VI) analyzer to have higher visibility of Cr(VI) contaminant levels in real-time and allow them to better monitor and address critical steps in their remediation process. 

AMS will conduct a demonstration of its SafeGuard™ H2O hexavalent chromium remediation system during AWWA ACE19 show in Denver. The demonstrations will take place on Monday, June 10 at 11 a.m. and Tuesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at the AMS booth #1408.

A study released by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), found that a mix of pollutants in California drinking water could cause an estimated 15,500 additional cases of cancer over the course of a lifetime. While concerns about water quality and safety continue to grow, it is important to note that a number of California utilities are already implementing real-time, online monitoring to determine the presence of water-borne contaminants of concern and ensure drinking water safety at all times. AMS is helping these utilities to not only identify THM and trace metal contaminant threats, but also to diagnose critical treatment system performance once a solution has been put in place.

Traditional chromium remediation systems are expensive and have high operating costs. SafeGuard H2O, the first truly intelligent chromium remediation system was specifically developed to help drive down the costs of treatment.
